Selected Work
Experience turning difficult technical problems into working technology and evidence.
Representative work by Derek Rinderknecht, PhD spans medical-device engineering, computational algorithms, clinical validation, scientific research, and complex engineered systems.
Noninvasive cardiovascular technology
Vivio System hardware and algorithm
Derek Rinderknecht, PhD designed the hardware and algorithm underlying the Vivio System, integrating cardiovascular physiology, physical measurement, signal acquisition, signal processing, and computational methods.
The work required connecting a physiologic phenomenon to an engineered sensing system and developing an algorithm capable of translating acquired signals into clinically meaningful information.
Evaluating technology against clinical reality
Prospective and multicenter validation
Professional experience includes designing and analyzing studies that compare novel noninvasive cardiovascular assessments with invasive hemodynamic reference standards and established clinical measurements.
This work spans study design, endpoint definition, performance analysis, subgroup evaluation, interpretation of discordant results, and translation of findings into practical development decisions.
Turning technical results into credible evidence
Research, analysis, and scientific communication
Derek Rinderknecht, PhD has led clinical-research and publication programs involving prospective validation, multicenter analysis, cardiovascular diagnostics, and hemodynamic assessment.
The work connects technical performance with the claims that evidence can support, including statistical analysis, abstracts, manuscripts, peer-reviewed publications, and communication with clinical and scientific collaborators.
Transferable experience
The same technical discipline applies across domains.
Healthcare provides the deepest body of demonstrated work, while experience across energy and other engineered systems supports a broader approach to modeling, measurement, technology assessment, and product development.
Understand the mechanism
Begin with the physical or biological processes that determine system behavior.
Engineer the measurement
Connect instrumentation, signal acquisition, computation, and practical constraints.
Validate the result
Evaluate whether the technology represents the underlying reality well enough for its intended use.
